By working with Allensway Recycling, supermarkets, food manufacturers and waste contractors can improve their green credentials by retaining this unsold food in the food chain, rather than wasting money on ever escalating disposal costs. Our food de packaging service is growing rapidly as people recognise the economic benefits of our process and its contribution to animal nutrition and the huge landfill problem. We are processing waste feed from far and wide.  

The Process

We use our own de-packaging units to process most types of unsold food. Examples of the waste food we de-package are:

• Bread & Confectionery
• Dairy including milk, cheese, butter, and yoghurts.
• Fruit & Veg
• Plastic Bottles
• Tetra Pak
• PET Punnets & Clam Shell packaging
• Tinned food

We recycle plastic bottles containing a range of liquids such as sauces, soft drinks and water. With our soft separator unit, we remove PET display packaging for food ranging from berries and confectionery to Easter Eggs. Unsuitable products are de-packaged and transported to our Anaerobic Digester The food leaves the machine crumbed and ready to feed to farm animals and is below the inclusion limits set by trading standards. We achieve a 95% recovery of food and packaging, with a recycling route for all products and our gate fee is significantly less than A.D. (anaerobic digester) and composting.
